A little trivia: Tulips were revered as the symbol of the Royal Court of Turkey as early as the 1500’s. The word tulip comes from the Turkish word for turban, however some sources report that the word referred to the turban shaped tulip flowers. Arriving in the Netherlands in the early 1600’s the tulip turned heads wherever it was planted. It is now most commonly associated with the Netherlands due to the sheer number of varieties produced there.
